Statistics
A 2007 survey of food bank clients in GTA confirmed, once again, that hunger is a significant issue in our community. Foodpath clients living in Mississauga showed:
65% of households responded that they did not have enough to eat because of lack of money
32% of adults go hungry at least once a week
36% lost weight because they did have enough money for food
80% feel there are foods they should eat for their health and well but cannot afford
$1170 is the average household monthly income of which 69% is spent on rent alone
52% of households have at least one person working
4.83 is the average Foodpath client has left per person after paying only rent and utilities
